YG Campsite Occupancy Survey

In its survey of campground users in 2016, the Government of Yukon heard campers’ concerns about people holding campsites when they’re not using them. Campers have asked for clear rules and enforcement of the rules.

Yukon government is proposing to change the campground regulation that currently allows campers to occupy a campsite without being present for up to 72 hours, and increase the corresponding fine.

Reducing the time period that a campsite or accommodation unit may be left unattended is expected to encourage fair campsite access, increase campsite availability, and promote positive camping experiences in Yukon.
